I am going to develop several public speaking theories in the next few blog posts that summarize how I spent three decades practicing, training, learning from others and researching this anthropologist's solid arts and sciences, especially neuroscience is. The first seven are here.
1. Speech should be about one thought and one only. Most speakers try to anticipate all objections and present a lot of information to cover all the bases. They don't want to miss something. But burying the audience is not the most effective way to illuminate it. Find an idea of yours and remove any details that do not support it.
2. A successful speech leaves room for audience participation. A smart writer blurs some of his main characters around the edges to imagine himself in the life of the reader's character. Too much exclusivity will alienate the audience as well as the readers. Ask yourself what I can expect from the audience and let them do so.
3. What you don't say is as important as what you say. Framed speech depends on the speaker and means to engrave a subject in such a way that it removes as much as it can. Honestly, the art of successful framing is to narrow your subject so that you can cover it in the allotted time but not so much that the audience feels narrow.
4) The Speaker cannot state any fundamental aspect of his argument which is a matter of debate without acknowledging the density of the hand. Emphasizing what you want to prove is known as a circular argument - and that's not a good thing. If you are holding a point of view, be honest about what you are claiming.
5. What you say relates to values of evidence that are strong in your knowledge. An artist can claim the nature of the universe which no physicist can do; This dualism does not affect the quality of truth in any way. And it must be, or all the poets of the world will be dumb.
Intellectual. Emotional truth is just as important in speaking to people as intellectual truth. A statement is basically a work of persuasion, and in the unconscious parts of the mind, inspiration begins in the sensitive centers of the brain. We change our minds, or are persuaded about something new, because we are encouraged to believe in it. Only after this sensitive change do we turn to the logic engine to create a superstructure of logic to support our sensitive decision making.
s. The speaker can confirm what the listener already believes or go on a journey in a new faith. Alumni are entertaining and motivational speakers. The latter is the true teacher. Both types of speakers have their own place and purpose, but teachers are needed to take the current struggle of the society to a new level. Progress is driven by teachers, not entertainers.
